Sew your own Halloween Pumpkins Tutorial

Fabric Pumpkins Tutorial

Sew your own Halloween decorations with this simple pumpkin tutorial. It’s easy enough for children to make with some help, and you can make them in all sizes and patterns to make a seasonal display!

Step 1

Make a rectangle pattern as big as you want your pumpkin. This is a baby pumpkin and measures 25.5cm by 12.5cm. It’s going to be cut on the bias of the fabric, so take your pattern piece, and fold it top to bottom then left to right. With the folds to the top and left, draw a diagonal line from the top left down 4cm. When you open it out, you will see the grainline and this needs to be straight when you cut out your fabric as the photo shows. The material is a lovely purple spider web Halloween polycotton from Oh Sew Caroline in Great Whyte, Ramsey.

The pumpkin pattern is cut on the bias.

Make sure you cover up the side seam with one of your strands of embroidery thread.
