Great Whyte Artisan Market – Sunday 19th September 2021
The Great Whyte in Ramsey is one of the widest streets in the East of England with a breadth of over 25 metres. For hundreds of years, it was not the road we see today, but a waterway. The Bury brook was the main waterway for the Abbey in Medieval times, bringing everything the Monks needed. The Victorians created a culvert of three arched brick tunnels and built the road over the top of the river. Read more about our history here. Today, we put that wide street to good use with our monthly Artisan Market.
This September’s Artisan Market takes place on the same day as Heritage Open Day when all our heritage attractions throw open their doors to visitors with an extra special themed programme of activities.
We have over 30 Artisan traders to tempt you with their crafts and wares this month, so do take a stroll down Ramsey’s widest thoroughfare before visiting a heritage attraction or two. Heritage maps can be picked up at the library.
