Introducing Ramsey Ladies Probus Club
Looking for things to do?
After months and months of restriction on our everyday activities, and too many Zoom calls, you may be wondering if there are any clubs or activities in Ramsey that you could get involved in to meet new people and get out and about!
Well, we’re happy to help you to discover everything that Ramsey has to offer, so here’s an introduction to Ramsey Ladies Probus Club which meets at Ramsey Golf & Bowls Club, Abbey Terrace, Ramsey, Cambridgeshire, on the 2nd Thursday lunchtime every month.
Ramsey Ladies Probus Club
The club was formed in 2006 for professional and business women aged 55 and over who have fully or partially retired with the aim of promoting companionship, mutual support, and recreation.
And the word ‘Probus’ comes from the blend of professional and business together!
What makes the Ladies Probus Club different from other clubs is that it is non-political and non-sectarian, and the day-to-day management is carried out by a small committee.
The ladies meet for lunch at Ramsey Golf Club on the 2nd Thursday of every month except August and have speakers on a wide range of interesting topics on alternative months. They are currently looking forward to a talk about the contents of a Victorian hospital doctor’s diary and hoping to start planning outings now restrictions are easing.
We asked President, Hilary Tough, why ladies should join the club and she said, ‘We are so grateful to be still going strong as a club when so many other activities have wound up because of falling membership. We’re looking forward to more fellowship and Sarah’s delicious lunches in 2022. We’d love to welcome some new members this year, so please do come along for a trial meeting.’
How to join…
With an active membership which is limited to 50, there are a few vacancies. If you would like to apply for membership, please contact Annette on 01487 813513 for an application form. You are welcome to attend one meeting as a guest to help with your decision to join.
